Obituary for Joan Grieb (Berghammer)

Joan Grieb nee Berghammer passed away peacefully at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum on February 25, 2024, at the age of 92. Joan married the man of her dreams, the late Robert Grieb, at St. Agnes Church in Milwaukee in 1954. They were happily married just shy of 50 years. In addition to her late husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James.

Together Joan and Bob raised three children: Richard (Laurie), Mary Jo Bykowski (David), and Jane Palmisano (Frank). She was the cherished grandma of Andrew, Katie, Brian, Kelly, and Mary. She was blessed with 4 great-grandchildren: Ellory, Sylvio, Paetyn, and Enzio.

Joan attended Messmer and Holy Angels High Schools. She was an avid bowler, part-time golfer, and most importantly to her family, a superb cook. Joan enjoyed travelling with her husband Bob and travel companions and dear friends, Dick and Terry Lustig, with whom they shared many laughs and great memories. Joan loved playing bridge over the years which developed into a lifelong friendship with her bridge club ladies Carol, Sue, and Donna. Aside from world travel, their most treasured travel destination was their summer home on the Chippewa Flowage affectionately known to the family as Sandy Point. Her favorite pastimes at the lake included fishing, golfing, playing cards with neighbors and hundreds of happy hour pontoon boat cruises with friends and family over the years.

Visitation will be held at 10 am and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Kettle Moraine Gardens for the love and outstanding care given to Joan over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan’s name to Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum would be appreciated.
