Passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at age 89, in Carthage, TX. Loving husband and soulmate of the late Doris M. Nielsen. Devoted father of the late JoElyn Nielsen, Fay (the late Dennis) Murawski, John (Katie) Nielsen and Scott (Priscilla) Nielsen. Loving grandpa of Jeff (Katie) Murawski, Chris (Maryellen) Murawski, Sarah Nielsen, Adam (Jayme) Nielsen, Claudia (Mike) Castello and Ryan (Lindsay) Nielsen. Great-grandpa of Emma, Lily, Quinn, Harper, Mackenzie, Axel, Harvey and Alex.
Dear brother of the late Henry (late Delores) Nielsen, Ed (Vicki) Nielsen, Brian (Jane) Nielsen and the late Rhea Gleiss. Brother-in-law of the late William, the late Glen (Georgia), the late Lee and the late Dell Bump. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Gordon was a Proud United States Navy Veteran; serving his country aboard the USS Orion during the Korean War.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home, W164 N9034 Water Street, Menomonee Falls, WI. A private Graveside Service will be held at Graceland Cemetery, with Military Honors to follow.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gordon H. Nielsen, 89, of Carthage WAS HELD at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church with Father Steve Paradis officiating. Rosary and Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mr. Gordon Hubert Nielsen was born November 24, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and died April 15, 2019 in Carthage, Texas. He was born to the marriage of Einer and Ida Celeste Nielsen. He graduated Rice Lake High in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and received his associate degree in engineering from Milwaukee Institute of Technology. He was married to Doris Bump for 57 years and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2010.
Mr. Nielsen served his country through the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Orion during the Korean War. He served as an electrician’s mate which led to his career in electrical engineering. He worked for over forty years for Wisconsin Bell before retiring. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hank Nielsen; sister, Rhea Gleiss; and daughter Joelyn.
Mr. Nielsen is survived by his loving daughter, Fay Murawski of Muskego, Wisconsin; devoted sons, Dr. John Nielsen and wife Katie of Carthage, Texas; and Scott Nielsen and wife Priscilla of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brothers, Eddie Nielsen and wife Vicky of Minnesota; Brian Nielsen and wife Jane of Mequon, Wisconsin; six grandchildren Sarah, Jeffrey, Christopher, Adam, Ryan and Claudia; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
