Obituary for Rosemary S. Krebs

Rosemary Schmit Krebs
Rosemary Krebs, 95, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Born on May 1, 1923 to the late Alfred John Schmit and Anastasia "Daisy" Paulus, Rosemary was one of six children. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She met her future husband, Joseph "Joe" Michael Krebs, Jr while attending Milwaukee Vocational School.
During WWII she served honorably in the United States Navy in Washington, DC as an aide to Lt. Cornelius Van Shaak Roosevelt. Upon Joe's return from POW status, they were married in Port Washington. They had six children.
Rosemary cherished her family and was a pioneering spirit. She was a private pilot and was a member of Amelia Earhart's Ninety-Nines Woman's flying group. Rosemary loved adventure. She skied in the Austrian Alps and made several trips to Colorado. She loved traveling and enjoyed trips with her family to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. To celebrate her 80th birthday, she traveled to Charlotte and rode in a NASCAR race car. Rosemary also had the privilege of being on an Honor Flight.
Rosemary was artistic and won several awards for her porcelain, ceramics and quilting. A major joy in her life was sewing. She was a teacher and mentor for several quilting clubs. She helped provide quilts to veteran's organizations and those in need.
Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, husband, her son John, daughter Rosemary, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her children: Karen (LeRoy Pogodzinski), Barbara Meinerz, Thomas, and Robert (Susan). Grandchildren: Joseph Meinerz, Madelyn Krebs and Ian Krebs. Great-grandchild Elise Meinerz.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 29 at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W. Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, WI at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beforehand at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in honor of Rosemary. https://www.starsandstripeshonorflight.org
